Works The artist talks about a fascination with the “clumps” that occur in nature. When he is making a piece, he is very much aware of “a clump of clay.” When it comes to selecting materials or deciding which technique(s) to use, the artist is conscious of the flower bloom or a meal being presented on that clump of clay and of the various moods that the clay displays. Fired dark clay with a coating of white slip creates a characteristic texture where the black faintly shows through the fine cracks in the white over-glaze. |
