This iteration of Kodai Ujiie’s Celadon and Lacquer Sake Cup has a detail of faceted edges. The artist used a knife to shave off flat panels of clay around the form of the piece, no doubt, as a way to experiment with the effects of crazing and anticipate a new surface for the lacquer inlay composition to react on.
