Red Tea Bowl, 2018
Ceramic
H3 1/2 x W5 1/4 in, H8.5 x W13 cm

This stoneware tea bowl was fired at a high temperature in a high-oxygen kiln to achieve an earthy, red hue. Tsujimura left this piece unglazed, drawing the viewer’s gaze to the bowl’s elemental color and the minute markings left by the artist’s tools as he formed this vessel. The bowl’s rough base and thick, outwardly opening walls provide a pleasant and firm grip in one’s hand.
