Tsujimura shaped the smooth, rounded shape of this small sake bottle by using a potter’s wheel.
The precision of the bottle’s symmetrical form contrasts with the irregularity of the wood ash glaze, which forms random, speckled patterns during firing. The bold line slicing down the lower face of the bottle occurred naturally in the kiln, and further accentuates the bottle’s curved form.
