Yasushi Fujihira’s Silver and Black Tea Bowl is a very unique contemporary tea bowl that uses glazing techniques to create a composition throughout the piece. The form of the tea bowl, unique to traditional tea bowl forms, is a slight pear shape, common among Yasushi Fujihira’s other works. The inside of the tea bowl is a palladium silver, similar to the other silver tea bowls; however the thick, opaque deep - nearly black - purple glaze dripping along the side of the cup adds a contrast and sense of harmony to the work.
