When ceramic vessels are placed too near one another in the kiln, they can end up fused together during firing. Usually, these accidental hybrids are discarded, but here, Tsujimura created one on purpose, evoking notions of chance and error in the artistic process. A small jar, turned on its side as if to pour out water, is attached to the side of a curved vase. The distinct nodes at the lip and base of the vase and the green-grey wood ash glaze suggest the form and color of bamboo vases used in tea gatherings.
