Daisuke Nakano’s Scent of Early Summer is luscious bunches of white wisteria with the company of a beautiful moth. The delicate petals and leaves jump off the lattice-like gold leaf background. The harmonious combination of the moth and flowers creates a sense of calm and peace as one casts gazes onto the tranquil scene. Nakano slowly builds up his colors with layers and layers of paint to finally come up with brilliant, bold colors. Nagano overlaps various whites, greens, and browns to revile the complexities of each on the surfaces of the painting. The petals become smaller and subtle. The lack of definite lines in the flowers adds to their soft qualities. The gold leaf background reflects light and warmth, inviting the moth to fly close to the blooming blossoms.
