Tohru Matsuzaki’s hand crafted water jar encapsulates the sentiment of the four seasons. Hand chiseled and sculpted out of wood blocks, the water jar takes form evoking a fallen acorn in winter, a sweet pumpkin in fall, or a blooming flower of the spring of summer. Created with layers of black urushi and silver lacquer, Tohru Matsuzaki chose timeless colors to create this piece. The silver lacquer accentuates the natural textures created in the lacquer process. Notice the subtle rounded lid that compliments the undulating body of the jar.
