Using chisels and planes on blocks of wood, Tohru Matsuzaki has crafted a piece with a simple yet refined form. Notice the chiseled marks on the outside of the bowl resembling cliff-like textures, thoughtfully placed for the hand’s comfort when holding the bowl. The deep vermillion red makes a background for the hand painted silver lacquer forming blocked shapes around the outside of the tea bowl. This unique bowl is perfect for teas and soups.
