Perhaps the most interesting piece in the entire series, Ciel Terrestre holds a strong expressive presence. The seemingly metallic surface allows the viewer to ponder the process of its making. With a palette of deep violets, browns, and iridescent champagnes, the tablet is not a single solid, determined color, but a fluid and unpredictable one. The rough surface treatment of the glass contrasts with the nearly pristine, shiny surface of the sculpture. The piece is incredibly luminous.
