Kan Kishino’s Yakishime Yohen Tea Bowl is a stout cylindrical form. Although short in size, the glaze contains multitudes. The splattering of the ash and the beautiful bright red flashing of the red iron in the glaze and clay body paints a very expressive composition onto the surface of the form. The dark inside of the tea bowl contrasts with the more orange and beige, neutral colors of the surface. The white ash deposits travel inside the form, generously extending the composition.
