This chair is half made from "the king of washi." Since gampi grows deep in the mountain, it is challenging to grow, and traitorous to harvest as the ones who collect the fibers are aging, making the gampi even more valuable. The back results from meticulous hours and hours of painstaking processes, from chopping down the branches to twisting the fibers into a sturdy yarn. The washi paper is then woven into a delicate lattice weave.
