An example of Yukiya Izumita’s classic form, this Sekisoh Tea Bowl is intricate and extremely detailed. The waterfall like layers of the form create a sense of direction, a downward push in the clay that emphasizes the material. The gritty, textural quality of the clay body shows through the surface of the form. Izumita keeps the natural texture of the clay body by only glazing the inside with a classic matte black liner. The texture on the outside is furthermore emphasized with minishma inlay which is then wiped away to reveal the imperfections of the clay body.
