Tsujimura hand molded this lotus-leaf shaped plate; its gently curving form is reminiscent of a leaf floating on water. A common theme in Buddhist art, the lotus suggests notions of rebirth and perseverance. On the face of the plate, three rings evoke the three jewels of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Dharma (Buddhist doctrine), and the Sangha (Buddhist community).
