Tsujimura used iron-rich, rust-red clay for this tea bowl, typical of Karatsu-style ceramics from northern Kyushu. Marks from the hand of the artist and his tools when he formed and sculpted this ovular vessel give its walls a rippling texture. A thin layer of translucent glaze with white overtones adds a reflective quality and a warm hue in soft lighting.
