Kofuki Tea Bowl, 2012CeramicH3 1/4 x W6 in, H8 x W15 cmC10402Shiro Tsujimura, Kofuki Tea Bowl, 2012$ 6,000.00Tsujimura used a potter’s wheel to form this tea bowl with a short, sturdy foot and gently outwardly expanding walls. A thick layer of white kofuki, or “blown powder” glaze gives the bowl a powder-like texture. At some point, the vessel was broken and repaired with gold lacquer, a practice known as kintsugi. The striking gold lines on the white tea bowl call to mind themes of destruction and resilience.
