Isezaki formed the thick walls and structure of this tea bowl by hand before carefully smoothing the bowl’s sides and undulating rim. The sandy clay gives the piece a slightly rough texture that gives the bowl a grippy sensation in the hand. During firing, thin layers of iron rich wood ash glaze created a web of rust-red patterns. -
