Laura de Santillana’s Black Cut glass sculptures are a step away from the more colorful, transparent works that are in her collection. The black cut pieces are semi-matt, with an untouched, glassy edge outlining the structure of the piece with reflected light. The message is here poetic, when you think that darkness is all that surrounds you, light will come and surprise you. The darkness of the glass piece, alongside its opacity, creates a space that light cannot travel through, yet in the reflection and refraction of light, the sculpture is highlighted.
