Biography
Takeshi Suzuki (b. 1971) is a ceramic artist working in the Shino ware tradition, a style of Japanese pottery with origins dating to the 14th century. Born in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, Suzuki studied ceramics under his father, Osamu Suzuki, a Living National Treasure recognized for his mastery of Shino ware. He has received numerous awards, including the Award for Excellence (Mainichi Shimbun Prize) at the 25th Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition in 2019 and the Tono Shinkin Bank Award at the 55th Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition in 2024. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Ibaraki Prefectural Ceramic Art Museum and the Toshin Mino Ceramic Art Museum.
