Ippodo Gallery honors traditions in life and presents a gratitude for nature. Ippodo Gallery marries the world of Japanese reverence and contemporary sensibility.
Founded by Keiko Aono in 1996, Ippodo Gallery has been a pioneer in presenting Japanese Kogei art - Ceramics, lacquerware, bamboo, woodwork, metal, textiles, glass, painting, photography, etc.
By closely working with living Japanese artists, through a belief that life is an art form itself, Keiko Aono built Ippodo Gallery through a specific kind of trust and love found in human relationships.
As a result, Ippodo Gallery has been working directly with over 200 artists and have held thousands of exhibitions over the decades.
Ippodo Gallery Tokyo, located both in the heart of Ginza and a quiet residential area Gotenyama, now have tea ceremony rooms where they many artists and friends to gather together, fostering connections.
Continuing and expanding upon this belief overseas, Shoko Aono, in 2008, brought Ippodo Gallery to New York City and has since continued to witness the impact of Japanese Kogei art in a western landscape. A connection and love for art that transcends language.
The gallery’s mission is to share empathy and conversations with the world through the experience of Japanese culture.
