Kai Tujimura’s Hikidashi Kuro Chawan is a traditional form of a tea bowl. Thrown on the wheel, the artist opened the lip widely, allowing the form to have a sense of openness, of flow. These slight anomalies in the form’s surface treatment are due to the evidence of the artist’s hand.
