Rojie Koie’s Yakashime Jar is an unglazed, earthy piece. The form, minimal and sturdy, gives the piece a sense of density or structure. The unassuming curvature of the lip of this form, along with the thickness of the lip itself, give the piece a sense of flow. The earthy, raw clay body of this piece gives a fantastic and large canvas for surface treatment in this cas, surface area for the natural elements of the atmospheric kiln to engage on.
