Shin Fujihira’s Cinnabar Box reminds us of a precious stone. The faceting of the piece, throughout the surface of the form, produces a feeling of memory, as if this lidded piece contains something precious and important. The lid, small and rounded, completes the piece and the use of a soft purple cinnabar glaze makes the object feel precious.
