Shin Fujihira’s Cinnabar Incense Container is not what one would expect of an incense container. The shape, size, and construction all reflect Shin Fujihira’s contemporary mind. The small lid in the center of the form utilizes a landscape as a knob for the lid. The lid looks like a small house with different pathways extending outside itself. The cinnabar glaze, a signature of Shin Fujihira’s visual language, creates soft violet and blue hues drifting alongside the planes of the object. Like a small landscape, the object feels precious and personal.
