Soyo and Shodo Yamagishi, are two unique brothers who specialize in creating ‘core lacquer’ objects. This akaraku tea bowl was made entirely out of natural lacquer without the usual wooden core, which involves an unbelievably long and complicated process. As one gently rotates the bowl, brilliant flecks of white, black and glossy red stand out against the warm earthy red.
