This figure of an arhat was carved from driftwood from the Kizu river, which runs between Kyoto and Nara. Kishino carved the monk with a round face that accentuates their peaceful smile. Standing with their hands tucked into long sleeves, the monk has an approachable quality, as if they stand in wait to greet the viewer.Exhibitions
