A subliminal sense of a shared consciousness guides the technique and symbolism of KAKU's paper tapestry. The piece is constructed from shaped wire and tens of thousands of coiled washi paper pieces; together, they become a living environment. Each coil draws the viewer deeper into the undulating surface until the tapestry becomes a world its own.
