    He applies a uniquely formulated, highly viscous slip called "Nen-do" directly by hand, layering it over and over. Pushing, pulling, stopping. The pressure, speed, hesitation, and momentum remain as movements of the material, which are then fixed into shape through firing. He explores the traces of the body at that moment, using letters, numbers, lines, and the shapes of blocks as his tools.
