De Santillana found herself in the company of master glass blowers Ben Cobb and Chihuly-collaborator Charlie Parriott during her first residency at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington. Focusing on transparent glass as the primary medium to convey the artist’s signature slumped technique, she chose to incorporate an exterior application of metal-based powder which produced a distinct approach to texture and the dispersion of color.
