The mountain near my atelier is Mt. Fuji. It’s gazed on me since the time I was a child.

It is a beautiful mountain, but in an instant it’s unruliness can appear. This is the true form of Mt. Fuji. Many a time I’ve set out for the summit, only to be obstructed by wind and rain.

I wanted to paint the truth of Fuji. Its honest face.
