Blown in the three blazing furnaces of the Tacoma Museum of Glass, de Santillana’s luminous oblong glass form channels the imagery of the sun and Indian lingam. A golden-yellow glow and delicately textured exterior surface are the careful addition of color powders refined from the purest quality metals produced in Germany. The almost incandescent surface is interrupted by a verdant ‘eye’ that is pressed with clear glass, opening a window into the cloister and otherwise imperceptible interior.
