The standing tablet is the building block of de Santillana’s expression in glass: folds, creases, and a respired breath of the maestro is encapsulated forever within the fused walls. Suspended amidst the viscera, a sheet of glinting crimson metal dwells constant and remote to all that is outside. Glass and metal are of conflicting natures; the inclusion entered the glass during the blowing process with great precision, taking care for the entropic forces of the mediums so expertly contemplated and executed at her historic studio in Murano.
