Made from two pieces, a lid and body, the gold and black components of the caddy are sculpted on the turning lathe. Colored with vibrant lacquer, Jihei Murase's nakatsugi caddy elegantly combined the grain of the Japanese elm with carved decoration made from hand-forged wrought iron impliments.
