During a particularly experimental period, de Santillana explored the ‘tagli’ cutting technique to activate the expression of color in new ways. She inserted powdered crystal into handmade gouges in the thick glass to realize a colored pattern that feels somewhat distanced and removed from the cold-worked surface.
