Opening Reception, Laura de Santillana: Memories Through Her Eyes: Impressions of Tokyo and Kyoto in Glass

8 May 2024

As cherished friends of the late Laura de Santillana, Ippodo Gallery proudly presents "Through Her Eyes II," an exhibition honoring Laura de Santillana's profound connection with Japanese architectural elements. Specifically, her tablet series was inspired by Fusuma sliding doors, Byobu folding screens, Tatami, Kimono, and Shoji washi windows.

In this memorial exhibition held by Ippodo Gallery in New York, we showcase Laura's most precious and exquisite works, evoking her memories and passions for Japan.

In the Tokyo room, vibrant and luminous pieces reminiscent of Tokyo's neon lights captivate viewers. Meanwhile, in the Kyoto room, delicate and translucent works with gold leaf details reflect the serenity of Washi paper and textiles. Join us as we delve into the essence of Tokyo and Kyoto through Laura's artistic vision.

Please join us for the opening reception with Laura's friends and family on May 8, from 6 - 8 PM.
